Grand Opening

These past week we have been working on a great project that all of us just LOVE. "Grand Opening"  started as an idea from my students after reading stories that involved money and their interest in starting a business. After many nights thinking  a differentiated anchor activity came to life for various subjects. This way they will not only work in English class but as well as in Art, Math, Spanish and Hebrew. Also, if they would like in T.IC. or Music. All of us teachers were pleased to work as a team.

Students were asked to work in groups and organize the opening of a pastry store since they are successful store managers. First, we started with a class discussion about pastry stores they knew in town and pruducts sold there. Then,  students went ahead and started to work on the various tasks.

Well, at this moment we have a company name, a logo done with a technique learned in art, products and prices, role played a real life situation of clients coming to the pastry, and in math they have worked addition and multiplication with the prices  .

I am just thrilled to say they are really enjoying it and so proud to see how they have worked cooperatively among each others.
